My life, as probably yours too, has taken many twists and turns.

I started out my working career as a carpenter and then worked as a machinist.

In 1973 I married my high school sweetheart and now have celebrated over 50 years together as husband and wife. We had two children. Our son, to our deepest sorrow, was killed by a drunk driver. Our daughter has blessed us with two wonderful grandchildren.

In 1980, I heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and placed saving faith in Him alone for my salvation. A few years later God called me to fulltime ministry. So off I went to college, eventually graduating later with my masters.

I served in the role as a pastor for 31 years and am now serving in missions work teaching a discipleship class and a college class in Kenya. I do this via Skype.

My hobbies include woodworking, photography, hiking, trail maintenance and development, and camping.

I have loved the outdoors my entire life. Ever since I can remember I have been outside doing something. I genuinely feel more comfortable and at peace in the wilderness than I do anywhere else. I love the solitude and essentially hike solo.

I have hiked the Appalachian Trail and several other long distance trails in the US.

The wilderness is one of the places where everything remains as it did when God created it. Nature continually and faithfully fulfills what God our Creator designed it to do.

Adam and Eve heard the same wind blowing through the trees and rustling leaves as I do. They heard the same music from the babbling streams and rivers. They heard the same songs the birds sing today. After Noah, they smelled the same scent of rain that I do as a storm blows in. Wildlife continues to live out its life as it did ages ago. I could go on and on.

If all of mankind disappeared, nature would continue on as it has all these century’s.

The wilderness remains the one place where I can go and always find everything exactly as it should be, as it was meant to be.

When I began this website, it was with the hope and prayer that I could blend my faith and love for the outdoors together in such a way that I might bring a measure of encouragement to people across the world. That I may have the privilege of playing some part, no matter how small it may be, in serving others to believe and become more of what God created them to be.

I am praying that these Bible studies will assist others around the world in their understanding and enjoyment of God’s Word.

I am praying that these devotionals will eventually get passed on by long distance trail hikers and fellow adventurers as a means of encouraging and guiding them along their journey.

Time will tell how the Lord will choose to use this service.

I pray for God’s richest blessing upon you all,
